Nick Coston

Excavation Pictures

A journalist by trade, Nick Coston has taken his writing ability and love for crushing deadlines to the high stakes game of Hollywood screenwriting. He brings with him a passion for the lives and stories of Detroit, the birthplace of his Balkan family’s American identity.
In 2010 Nick earned BAs in Journalism and Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, where his fourth-year script In One Nest won the Hubert I. Cohen Award for Best Screenplay. He earned his MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where his thesis script, Cineribus, was a finalist in the NYU Screenplay Showcase competition.
Nick’s characters seek to explore nationalism and ethnicity against the oft-forgotten landscapes of the Rust Belt and beyond. He has coauthored The Greatest Act and 1001 Vegas Nights with Excavation co-founder Joseph Costa.
Nick lives in Los Angeles. You can find him experimenting on any recipe that includes garlic.
